E.V.O.Oh my gah I’m in Italy! (1)

So I actually made these Snack Mix Bars before I left to come to Firenze but I’m here! To steal Rachael Ray’s phrase (ugh never thought I’d say that) EVOOh my gahhh I’m in Italy! It is absolutely GORGEOUS here and the food is AMAZING! I think the Italian language is so beautiful and I am thrilled to be able to study it (and the cuisine) in a place like Florence! More about the food here later. For now: Snack Mix Bars. I found these on Inn Cuisine back in September, yes these have been on the “to bake” list for a while. To my surprise these are actually a no bake bar! I’m not sure why it surprised me when I actually got down to making these but yes, in fact, they are a no bake. This combined with the fact that they are addictingly delicious makes them a must make! A must make, no bake, heh. The only thing bad about these chunky bars is that you do have to let them sit …

Peanut Butter Crispy Bars

Back in September (feels like yesterday, really it’s December?!) I went to the famous Baked Bakery in Brooklyn. Uhhhh so good. [moment to remember the amazingness that is Baked]. I tried about 15 different delectable items and all of them were memorable but I think my favorite by far were the Peanut Butter Crispy Bars. I have said many a time that PB+choco happens to be my favorite combination. It’s just natural that the two things go together. Like Diet Coke and me, like Vodka and soda, like Don & Betty Draper (well that’s not a great example), like Juliette & Sawyer on LOST, like Ron & Hermoine and like cream and…well…everything.  Needless to say these PB Crispy Bars get the job done. The bars might seem intimidating, yes you may have to whip out the candy thermometer, but they’re rather easy once you get down to it. And there’s actually no baking involved. Just cooling in the fridge, which is almost worse. Patience is a virtue my friends. I have none, but luckily for …

4 Layer Cookie Bars & Launch Party Giveaways

This is a double whammy post: one part delicious baked good, one part charity/prizes/really that kid wasn’t in the balloon?/we’re really freakin’ excited for our launch party! Alright Four Layer Cookie Bars were fabulous, it’s four cookies in one so they are what you might expect: rich, sweet, and yummy. I made them for our tailgate breakfast when I went home to Nashville this weekend for the UGA vs Vandy game. My lovely friend Katie was nice enough to have us all over to eat and hang out before we headed down to the game. Ah, living the normal school life for a weekend, two things that NYU lacks: football and day drinking. Here’s the recipe, you should all make them because they are to die for good. Yes since they are four layers its quadroople the calories, but hey, the holidays are coming, might as well start now. OKAY on to the more important stuff. We recently launched our new website (like a week ago) and we love any excuse for a party. That’s …

Lookie at my Cookies: Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Bars with Cinnamon Cream Cheese Frosting

First thing’s first: Ariel and I found out about Study Abroad for next semester! What? Yes! We’re leaving the lovely USofA to go immerse ourselves in other cultures through food, drink, and fun. Oh, and school I guess. So where will we be traveling? Ariel will be spending her spring in Tel Aviv in Israel and I will be spending mine in Florence! We are more than excited to travel around the world, we just wish that we could do it together. Though our distance and different locales will only provide more interesting things for us to share with you all here! Nosh & Tell will be up and chugging along as we travel through Europe and the Middle East respectively. Who knows how often we’ll get to blog, or what the heck we will blog about since we won’t have access to all of our lovely kitchenware that will be staying in NYC, but we will blog! And we will eat! Oh we will eat. Pasta. Wine. Yum. Anyway, that’s not happening till Spring, …

Lookie at my Cookies: Peanut Butter Candy Bar Bars, the Bars that started a blog

I owe these delicious looking bars Peanut Butter Candy Bar Bars a lot, other than the 5 pounds I think I have gained from eating them. I credit them and my friend Liz, to encouraging me to start this blog! Let me explain. One day I’m sitting in my room with Liz, on the computer while simultaneously watching TV, avoiding doing homework, and/or going to class. Liz is an avid user of Stumbleupon.com and one day she “stumbled” upon Tastespotting. She quickly alerted me because I love making and eating food. It was love at first sight. I quickly became addicted to Tastespotting and other food porn sites like it.  I had never seen a food blog before this, it was like a whole new world had been opened up to me. A world of me sitting at my computer pretty much drooling over delicious looking recipes and pictures. A world where I would spend all my extra money on baking supplies just to be able to try these recipes for myself. I discovered the recipe for these …

Lookie at my Cookies: Butterfinger Bars

One night this weekend Ariel and I had been tastespotting for a dangerous amount of time, this led to many intense cravings and a brutal 30 minutes of indecision on which urge to follow. In the end Ariel decided to make some sort of pasta and I decided to make something with peanut butter and chocolate (as usual). Introducing, Butterfinger Bars! Not quite as good as the candy–personally I’m partial to the tons of sugar, preservatives, and chemicals found in packaged junk food–but they definitely hit the spot! I found these on Katie Blair Designs and was salivating as soon as I saw the pictures. The Butterfinger Bars did not disappoint. After a quick trip to the grocery I whipped these up in no time, they were really really easy to make–the hardest part was waiting for them to cool! Impatient as I am, I stuck them in the freezer because I was dying for a taste of the Butterfinger Bars. The cookie/blondie part is peanut buttery and delicious. It doesn’t have the distinct texture of a Butterfinger …

Lookie at my Cookies: Samoa Bars

One of the down falls of going to college is missing out on Girl Scout Cookie season. I used to beg my mom not to order any Thin Mints or Samoas because the cookies always curiously arrive around Spring Break and bikini season…how cruel. Now that I don’t live at home when Girl Scout Cookies are ordered, I don’t even have the chance to protest, and I don’t get to enjoy the cookies when they are delivered because no matter how many times I tell my mom not to order them, she always does. Alas, I have found another way to get my Samoas by making these Samoa Bars that have been popping up on food blogs lately. I am currently catching up on The Tudors via On Demand (I love summer) so please excuse any elevated, English Tudor language.I saw these Samoa Bars a while back and saw the perfect opportunity to bake them last night! Bars are my favorite thing to make because they’re easy and so versatile. You can turn anything into a bar–even a Girl Scout …

Lookie at my Cookies: Neiman Marcus Brownies

I have to credit my mom for this recipe, think of it as an early Mother’s Day thank you. My mom is a former gourmet chef/caterer so I grew up having home cooked meals almost every night. I feel so fortunate that my mom was able to pass on her love for food to me and my siblings. She’s an amazing woman who I am continually inspired by and she’s a damn good cook! Since I can remember I’ve been spoiled by my mom with family dinners, pound cake, banana bread, and these Neiman Marcus Brownies that I am about to share with you. I have helped my mom make these a few times and consumed a TON of them over the course of my 19 (20 tomorrow!) years. As a college student craving a taste of home, I finally made them all by myself! Had to put a picture of my mommy to give her credit! If she figures out how to use the computer she’s probably gonna kill me, love you mom! My mom sent …

Lookie at my Cookies: Quintuple Chocolate Brownies

A few months ago when I first started baking seriously, I decided I wanted to hit the books- cookbooks that is. I ordered a few that I thought to be the “Bibles” of the cooking world, among those was Dorie Greenspan’s Baking From My Home to Yours. If I could recommend one baking cookbook it would be this one, order it! I have been lost in the glossy pages filled with beautiful pictures for weeks now. Dorie I love you. I have about a million recipes marked in this book to try but here’s the first one I am blogging about, Quintuple Chocolate Brownies. Not double, not triple, not quadruple, but QUINTUPLE. Crazy, it should be illegal, except it’s delicious!  These brownies live up to the amazing taste that their name implies; they are the best fancy brownies I have ever had. I say the best fancy brownies because I’m still on a search for the perfect traditional brownies, no fancy stuff added. They are called Quintuple Chocolate Brownies because, you may have guessed it, they have FIVE …

Lookie at my Cookies: S’mores Bars

Eating these S’mores Bars was kinda like the Lay’s potato chip slogan “betcha can’t eat just one”. I think the pictures do them justice. They are as good as they look, probably better. I can barely write this because I can’t stop staring at the gooey marshmallow layered with melting milk chocolate on a crunchy graham cracker cookie-esque crust. Unfortunately, I’ll have to make do with looking at the pictures because these treats are long gone…it’s a little embarrassing actually. All of the bars in the 13×9 inch pan have been eaten, not all by me! That’s one of the many good things about being in a sorority haha. I think everyone who tried them had at least two because they were absolutely wonderful. I’m sad they’re gone, but like they say, all good things must come to an end!  I found the recipe for these bars on Lovin’ from the Oven. THANK YOU Kim! Ever since I came across these they’ve been on my list of things to bake, I mean come on look at the pictures! …
