Spring Break!–E.V.O.Oh My Gah I’m in Italy (8)

Yes. We’re still on my posts from abroad. When will they end! Soon. (ish). So my Spring Break trip was one of the greatest weeks of being abroad. We went to Rome for 5 days, Dublin over St. Patty’s day and then to Amsterdam to end our break. As you can imagine, it was incredibly fun. Rome ended up being one of my favorite cities in Italy. It’s a perfect mix of small Italy town life  as well as being a bustling metropolis. I would move there in a heartbeat. I don’t actually think I have pictures of food from Rome, but the food was great. We got sushi which we hadn’t had in 2.5 months. I’m sure many New Yorkers would agree with me when I say that sushi is a main staple of my diet, I missed it desperately while in Florence (not that I was starving or anything!). Other than that…we ate a lot of gelato. And I ate a lotta artichoke! Mmmm carciofi soaked in oil. Yumm. A flight later we …

La Dolce Vita–E.V.O.Oh my gah I’m in Italy (5)!

Ciaooo! Still here in Italia living La Dolce Vita! Haven’t been able to post much lately due to lots of traveling but rest assured that I have been photographing all my amazing meals along the way. Let’s see..the last time I posted I think was after I had been to Lucca? Since then I’ve been to Chianti, Montepulciano, Rome, Venice, Milan, Sorrento, Interlaken, Bologna, Capri, Prague, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Dublin, Positano annnddd Pompeii…whew, is that it?! It’s been an amazing few months and I can’t believe I have to go home in less than a month! I am NOT ready to leave Italy or Europe in general. It’s an amazing amazing place. I feel so lucky that I have been able to travel so much of Italy and Europe while I’ve been here and of course I have my parents to thank for that! And school…for being so relaxed and letting me slack off majorly this semester haha. Anyway, here are just a select FEW of the sweets I have eaten while in Italy. Both I …

Lookie at my Cookies: Neapolitan Ice Cream Pie

I scream you scream we all scream for ICE CREAM! As I have mentioned, I LOVE ice cream. Particularly frozen yogurt (you can find my comprehensive guide to popular froyo places here) which is why I was intrigued and salivating when my sister Liz sent me a recipe from Self Magazine for Neapolitan Ice Cream Pie. Ice Cream cake might be sent straight from heaven, at least I’m sure that Baskin Robbin’s Roll Cakes are. This frozen yogurt/ice cream pie was no exception, it was amazing! I made it for dinner for my parents and aunt and uncle the other night and we all agreed it was delicious, blog worthy for sure. The Neapolitan Ice Cream Pie won’t leave you feeling guilty for indulging either because it is made with mostly frozen yogurt, a perfect ice cool treat for the summer! My friend Katie helped (or she just watched) while I made this and we agreed, it’s way easy to make, you just have to wait for each layer to harden up before you put the next one on but I don’t …

Whit’s Tidbits: A Comprehensive Guide to Frozen Yogurt and Ice Cream

Frozen yogurt is my jam, ice cream too, but I LOVE fro yo (yeah I’m just that cool, I actually call it that). Luckily most of my friends love this delicious frozen treat as well so I can get my fix with company. For this reason (and because I can’t bake until I’m home tomorrow) I am doing a MEGA frozen yogurt post. It’s summer-ish, it’s hot, and frozen yogurt is perfect for any time of day. So NYCers and beyond read this and have your wallet handy to go out and get your fro yo fix! In no particular order, here is a smattering of some frozen yogurt/ice cream places I frequent: Pinkberry: you knew it would be on here. Chances are if you live in New York or LA you have tried this fro yo. The term frozen YOGURT literally describes this chain, it is actually made from yogurt and tastes like it too. Quite simply if you like the way yogurt tastes then you will love pinkberry, if not then you will …
